About
Andor (2022–2025) is Tony Gilroy's Star Wars series, a prequel to Rogue One that follows Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) from a thief scrounging the scrapyards for a lost sister into someone a rebellion can be built on. Twenty-four episodes across two seasons, and the only entry in the franchise that trusts you to sit with politics, work, and fear before anything lights up. Wikipedia overview
The first season spans a single year and builds in three-episode movements: the Aldhani heist, the Narkina 5 prison, and Ferrix rising at Maarva's funeral. Stellan Skarsgård's Luthen Rael carries the best monologue the franchise has ever filmed — "I burn my life to make a sunrise I know I'll never see" — and Andy Serkis's Kino Loy turns a factory floor into the most tense hour here.
The second season jumps a year with each block on the road straight into Rogue One. It keeps the discipline while widening the scope: Mon Mothma's slow sacrifice of her own life to fund the cause, and the Ghorman massacre, which lands as hard as anything in Star Wars. It never once coasts on the name it carries.
5/5. Each season was great. The best thing to ever wear the Star Wars name, and proof the setting can hold adult, patient television.
