About
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is an open-world action-adventure game developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Games. Revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live in 2024, it is the long-awaited return of the LEGO Batman line and the first entry built around a single, fully explorable Gotham City rendered in brick.
The conceit is a love letter to eight-plus decades of the character. Rather than adapting one film or comic, the game threads together Batman's many incarnations across print, film, and television. Players unlock and swap between dozens of versions of the Caped Crusader — and an enormous rogues' gallery — each with their own gadgets, vehicles, and visual riffs, from the pulpy Golden Age detective to the neon excess of the 1990s movies. Gotham itself is the real star: a dense, vertical playground stuffed with collectibles, side missions, and the studio's trademark smash-everything traversal puzzles.
Underneath the new ambitions it is still very much a TT Games title — drop-in/drop-out co-op, stud-collecting, and the wordless-then-fully-voiced humor the studio has refined over fifteen years of LEGO games. It lands at a strong 4/5: held back only by the familiar formula and the busywork that comes with any collectathon this large, but buoyed by genuine craft, deep fan service, and the most charming Gotham the bricks have ever assembled.
